Skin Care Products: Acne Care

Acne normally strikes teenagers and adolescents, but it can also afflict adults. Since acne may be bothersome or embarrassing, people often look to different products for the quickest solution to their problem. There are several products on the market that can effectively treat acne, but a good skin care routine is also key in clearing acne and helping to keep acne to a minimum

Establish a Routine

The first step to clearing bothersome acne is to establish a routine. You should buy a cleanser specifically designed to treat acne. Ideally this cleanser should have either salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. These medications can help to clear acne sores and to prevent future breakouts. If you already have facial acne, cleanse your skin gently. Vigorously rubbing your breakouts can cause them to become worse or even scar. This means you should wash your face with your hands and avoid using a sponge or washcloth, as these methods can be too abrasive for acne-prone skin. Other key measures include sleeping on clean pillow cases. It is also wise to be the only person who uses your pillow case; the cases absorb oil during the night and can cause or aggravate breakouts.

If you have long hair, consider pulling it back during the night because the oils from hair can cause breakouts. People prone to acne should use only non-comedogenic facial care products. Oil-free moisturizers and anti-bacterial toners or acne wipes including salicylic acid are also beneficial in clearing acne. Women who are prone to acne should consider one of the latest types of foundations, which contain acne clearing products along with the make-up. It is also not a good idea to layer or use heavy make-up as it can clog the pores and cause breakouts.

Practicing a regular routine, including washing your face twice daily and applying moisturizer and then acne products can help greatly in clearing up acne. The key is to be consistent so as to prevent further breakouts and to minimize aggravating any remaining acne sores. This kind of routine can help set you on your way to clearer skin.
